DAWN
Hair mussed
Sleep still slipping
from the corners of my eyes
Coffee piping
Rain chilly, pattering on the tin roof
of the first home which is fully ours.
Baby sleeping
peaceful in the overcast morning
Firstborn: the one who made us parents
I contemplate
the stillness
Feel my wholeness
as our second born grows surely inside me.
Hands warm
around my mug
A boon, for I am often cold
I conjure
the feeling of my husband’s arms wrapped around me
With love
our family grows
as the rain brings growth and green and good.
